I use Ridisc RAM DVDs which I purchase from SVP and they are reliable and cheap. see here - they are £14.99 for 10.

The ones in cartridges cost quite a bit more but they do mean that you never touch the surface by accident as the whole lot goes into the recorder. Having said that though, if you are careful with the others they won't be failing on you in a hurry !

Yes, you just put the Catridge in the machine for recording & playback. It's good for 100000 re-writes and has a 30yr shelf life. It costs £1.82 each from APRmedia. I have used catridge DVD-RAM discs for daily recordings for 3 years without any disc failure.

I use DVD RAM and DVD-RW in mine. The Ram discs i am using are Panasonic and the -RW dics are Maxell. Both types have given good results. Geoff.

Yes you can. If you want to use them on another machine though, you have to finalise them. After doing that, if you wish to re record onto that particular disc, you will need to format it. Hope this helps. Geoff.

I believe it's just DVD-RAM as that format is the one related most closely to the hard disk.

That's by far the cheapest price for catridge DVD-RAM discs in the UK. This is only a guess, but perhaps APRmedia has too much stock and it may be a clearance price. It's cheaper than the non-catridge disc (in jewel case) which is £2 each. Both are Panasonic branded discs. I bought 5 more DVD-RAM catridge discs yesterday and I received them today. here's the link

No you can't timeslip on RW only on RAM

However, before you finalise -R or -RW discs, you can use timeslip as an alternate to fastforward or rewind, to go to a specific point on the disc.

No I cannot see it either on that link. Only Panasonic discs listed are the 4.7GB single and the 5 packs which are both non cartridge. The Verbatim 4.7GB type 2 is the one in the cartridge. I don't see any need to use the cartridge type tho. The non cartridge last just as long if you handle them with reasonable care. I now use the Ridisc make in spindles of ten for £14-95 from SVP.
