DVD/HDD RECORDER What to buy??

I plan to get SKY+ and add a DVD recorder or DVD/HDD recorder which I want to also use as DVD player. I am using a Marantz AV amp and a Hitachi 32" Plasma (HD ready!!)
Can anyone help me to decide on the best options as I would like to mainly record programs on the SKY+ but have the ability to transfer to DVD for long term storage (viewing later!)

Budget up to £500 if necessary (cheaper if possible) It seems that Panasonic is generally rated but open to suggestions.

Any help would be appreciated.
