Well, went onto comet web site to order the PANNY E55, and also saw this model

How doesi t compare to the PANNY?

Have seen alot of threads about alot of recorders, but none seem to highlight a samsung model

It is a Panny The Samsung DVDR100 is based on the Panasonic E50 (the previous model to the E55). In essence then it is an E50 (a very good recorder) but with DVD-RW recording and iLink added. The only downside is that, whilst it has Flexible record, it can only be used with the Timer. Obviously like the E50 it has no component/progressive scan or DVD-Audio playback.

am desperate to make sure delivery by Weds /Thurs this coming week

Any high street shops doing it sub £200?

or a JVC DR-M1 but does it have an RGB input?

No - it's a licenced 'clone' of the Panasonic E50 (much in the way the DVDR1000 was a clone of the E20) but with the modifications stated. It's circuit board, MPEG encoder and menu structure is virtually identical to the E50.

I'm 90% sure it has RGB input and that it doesn't have component. For those interested in the model you can download the manual from www.samsung.co.uk

downloaded manual and it doesn't have component outs (nearly 30MB manual in pdf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) despite samsung site stating it does (S-video is technically a component video format)
