Exclamation Panasonic E85 - Blank Media

Hi,

Sorry to kick-off yet other thread on blank media !!!!

I've read through some of the older threads which mention older Panny models and these have started alarm bells ringing

Could anyone tell me of any DVD-R printable discs that are suitable for using on the E85 - I'm not interested in PC editing. If you could also give me any internet sites that I can use to either buy or check compatibility that would be great. I have noticed that Panasonic only recommend their own discs, but I think that these are a rip-off and probably OEM manufactured.

Yours Hopefully,

Peter

P.S. I've still not been able to sort my compatibilty issue between my E85
and Philips digibox !!

Verbatim 8x DVD-R with printable surfaces.

Bomb-proof reliable, good print surface with no area restriction, excellent cross-player compatibility.

I get mine from: http://www.penridge.com/

£55 + VAT per 100 on spindle, reasonable price for this quality of media.

1-4x vs 8x

Thanks for the info Roger....

Just one question, my E85 manual only quotes Panasonic DVD-r 1-4x

does this mean that I can only use 1-4x DVDs in the recorder ?????

Sorry, but I'm a technofobe !!

No, you should be fine with 8x with decent quality media. Only applies when you do fast copy from HDD to DVD. Not sure about E85 but copy speed may well be set by recorder anyway. Several trade media suppliers have independently qualified Verbatim 8x DVD-Rs (only fairly recently UK available) and have not found problems (I know that only because I use them and there was a UK shortage of all Verbatim printable media recently!).

You can also try www.svp.co.uk these sell a selection of disks made using the GO4/O5 dye by ritek and these should work fine, they also sell Ram disks which you will need for re-writability. If you join the svp buyers club (it's free) you will also receive special offers such as 99p shipping (usually on weekends).
