Liteon LVW 5005 and sky+

I purchased a Liteon LVW5005 today from Argos for £120 (with a £10 voucher back!) as at this price it seemed a bargain for a recorder that will do everything i want it to.
My technical knowledge is limited to say the least and i just cant seem to set it up so that i can record from my sky+ box. I thought i would simply need to remove the connections from my old VCR and that would be it but it dont seem that easy! I have a scart going from sky+ to the dvdr and another scart from the dvdr to the tv but all i can tune in are the five terrestrial channels. Its doing my head in!
Is there anyone there who owns one of these machines ( or understands what i need to do ) who can spare 5 minutes to lead me through what i need to do, step by step in idiot proof language? According to a notice attached to the instruction manual the scart connections on this unit now include RGB which i understand from reading other postings is a good thing especially at this price, and the machine also has dv input which again is good.

Hoping someone can help.

Here are a few simple things to check : note that I do not
have sky digital (I'm on NTL digital), I also have the
Liteon 5006 model (which is similar to the 5005).

1) Is the scart connected to 'TV' output of the Sky+ box ?
Sky+ digiboxes have 2 scart outputs and only the 'TV' one
has RGB output. There's probably a menu setting in Sky to
set the output to RGB rather than Composite format

2) In the setup menu of the Liteon, check that the system/video output is set to RGB.

3) Check that your TV is set to receive an RGB input.

4) Check that you are pressing the 'source' button
on the DVD remote until the scart input is selected.

5) It should work.. failing that set all input/output settings
to 'composite' and see what happens then..

Good Luck !

Edit : Apparently after trawling round the web it seems
that perhaps the Liteon 5005 does not pass RGB signals
through when switched off. If this is the case with you then
step 1) above becomes :

1) Connect Sky+ 'TV' Scart output to the TV. Connect
Sky+ Video Scart output to the DVD

note then that only 'composite' settings may work.

But don't the more recent 5005 machines have RGB in and out?
