DVD RAM recording problems on JVC DRM10

I'm having problems recording on my JVC DRM10 recorder on DVD RAM discs only. Occasional pixellation on time shifted normal RAM recordings doesn't really botther me but on a couple of occasions on live time-slip recordings (watching whilst recording) the picture has frozen and I had to press rewind momentarily for playback to resume. Is this normal for RAM discs. I'm using a Panasonic single sided disc (type 2) out of its caddy. Is this a problem with the recorder itself.

I too have had this problem, but only a couple of time in the last six months. I think the machine is fussy with dirty discs. Usually pressing stop and then play again resolves any problems.

Do you mean the DR-M1 or the newer DR-M10???

The DR-M1 was and is extremly fussy about clean discs, I was hoping that they had sorted the problem on the newer models.

Panasonic Type 2, 4.7GB single sided discs (removeable from caddy). Are other disc manufacturers more reliable ? - maybe my disc is duff.
