Proline dvd1260

I have brought one of these from comet, i know its only cheap but it makes an awful sound when on standby red-light, does anyone have a solution to this- is it a fault or not?

Probably a cause of poor build quality. If you exchange it you may get lucky but I suspect it will be a common problem with that type of player. Is it a high pitch sound?
