Is my dvd player faulty?

I Have just got an LG DR 385 dvd recorder,it plays div x, copied dvd`s,but when i play an original dvd i get horizontal band of colours flashing on and off every couple of seconds. This only happens with Original disks

Is it faulty and should i return it ?

Re: Is my dvd player faulty?

It may be that the macrovision protection is activated for some reason when it should not be. The macrovision activates if it thinks that someone is trying to make a copy of the original.
Or else it may be the cable, im asuming you have a hdmi one. Try a different one.
If it is definitely not the cable i would take it back to the shop.

Re: Is my dvd player faulty?

That's the macrovision copy protection pulsating. You're either trying to copy a disc,or you have it plugged into the wrong socket on your tv.

Re: Is my dvd player faulty?

This may sound odd,but can you try a scart lead?

Re: Is my dvd player faulty?

Yep,it definitely could be a handshaking problem with your tv.

Good to hear it works.

As long as you can return it if it doesn't work, then yes,try another cable.
