Dodgy performance with some disk on Tosh

I have a Toshiba SD250e upscaling DVD player. I bought it off a friend at work , so I'm guessing it's about 3 years old. It won't play dual layer +R disks that I've burnt and although it will play +RW disks (recorded by my Panasonic EZ27), it doesn't like to FF or REW them. The best I can get is to press the FF button once (ie 2x) and normally the picture freezes - and it either doesn't advance or goes back to normal play some time about 3 minutes forward.

I've rang Toshiba but didn't get much joy...basically saying that it can 'like' some disks more than others.

Long shot....but anyone got any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with a Panasonic DVD player/recorder.

Re: Dodgy performance with some disk on Tosh

Thanks Ryu - that may certainly help on my +R DL's (been using datawrite) as I do use DVD Fabdecrypter and Nero - but less worried about that cos my PS3 and DVDR EZ27 play them fine.

It's the +RW that I'm more worried about because I record things on my EZ27 and then often watch them in the conservatory on the Toshiba. I only have a Panasonic screen (no TV) so need to watch pre-recorded stuff.

Re: Dodgy performance with some disk on Tosh

I used to use my Panasonic DMR-E65 to record TV programmes to Traxdata DVD-RW to play on my DVD player in my bedroom - and often had sync issues - video and audio out of synch - video - lurching forward rapidly to catch up and so on. Changed to TDK DVD-RW. No more probs.

I know you are using +RW but it might be worth changing brand to see if the Tosh prefers something else. TDK, Verbatim…
