Limit 9900SE and mp3

I bought this player from RS yesterday and have it hooked up via RGB to my Philips 9527 (and before anyone asks, no, I can't see any dark bands!) I'm happy with it's picture and sound when playing DVD and standard audio CDs (wasn't multi-region out of the box but remote hack works fine) but as yet I have had no joy in getting it to play mp3 discs.

When I insert a disc of mp3s it spins up and then says 'bad disc'. I've tried this with two different discs and both gave the same result. Is there a particular format of mp3 (cbr, vbr, id3v1/2?) or disc format (mode1/2xa? udf? microsoft? joliet?) which I need to use (burning with Recordnow Max).

Any suggestions welcome!

I haven't tried an mp3 cd yet in mine (about the only thing I haven't tried yet!). I'll give it a go tonight and let you know my findings.
