denon 2910 vs oppo player

Hi,

I was asking here before about higher quality older players vs a newer cheaper player. A few people mentioned oppo and since i have read some reviews of them which do generally seem to be very good. I have been looking in different forums though and find people from a year or two ago comparing them to dvd players like the 2910 and saying the oppo might be better because of it being nearly as good, possibly slightly better upscaling but better because of hte price difference. A 2910 then being a few hundred pounds where now they are about 100 pounds which used oppo players also seem to be. Also i am finding it hard to find used oppo players.

any thoughts?

edit:Also people mention the fact that the audio side of the denon is far superior, would this only be for stereo output or for 5.1 too. I want a player that i can use for some time with an oldish higher end 5.1 processor.

Finally im slightly confused now with upscaling and its quality, how does it compare to a progressive scan output from a decent player?
