About to buy a Pioneer 656 - still the best for the money (340)? also....

I'm gonna get a QED SQART RGB Scart lead? Still pucka?

And i was thinking of getting a 30 quid IXOS TOSLINK cable, but I wondered if I'd notice any improvement over a bog standard tenner jobby from comet

System;

36" Pixel Plus
Sony 940 DTS amp
4 x tannoy mercury floorstanders & matching centre
2nd Sony amp powering JBL sub.

QED AV2110 is brill for the money (I think you can get it from Empire Direcr for £30 + PP).

Does your amp only have optical in? Otherwise consider QED Qunex P75 coax (£25)

the QED AV41 RGB-only Squart is, at £50, not worth the money IMO. I actually prefer the picture from my £20 cinemax scart

the pioneer 656 is a fantastic player but I think you should be able to find it cheaper than £340

Definitely go with a coaxial cable if you're able to and the length needed is less than about 5 metres.

My personal choice would be to save a few quid over the QED and go for the Ecosse 'The Producer' coax cable at £19. A better cable IMO and cheaper too.

I thought the COAX digital cables suffered from interference where optical didn't.

Which is better and why?

Under 5meters a decent, screened coax cable shouldn't suffer from interference and is likely to give a slightly better sound, technically.

TBH, whether or not you'd actually hear the difference is another question but you may as well get the best tool for the job anyway.

Avland and HiFi junkies have no stock and don't expect any for a couple of weeks at least - or so I was told at the end of last week.

LE Concepts had stock at the end of last week for £309.99 delivered.
