Any Good DVD/Karaoke Players

Hoping that someone can recommend a DVD player that can also be used as karaoke player.

I recently tried a Maxim model from Safeway however the microphone input level was either very quiet or did not work. I was using it via the scart lead into a 14" portable TV and in the end took it back for a refund.

Any help from somebody who actually uses one would be very helpful, as I would like to get one for my daughter who loves singing.

Malcolm with regards that Maxim dvd player what was the quality like on picture and sound, also did it play other regions ie R1 and R4?
