Re: new dvd player

Quality 1080p flatscreen demands a decent player.The£50 SAmsung 870 or Philips will be acceptable but better build and performance from £100 + Sonys, Pioneers etc. Better again from the Oppos and Denons at the £200+ mark. However the ball game is changing a little with the DVD-HD and Blu-Ray players which will play HD discs and upscale beautifully your extensive R2 dvds.from£200.Check out Toshiba EP 30 .I'm not too familiar with dvd recorders at the moment.

Re: new dvd player

Hi, I wonder if you can help me, I too have recently bought a Samsung F86 40" 1080p TV. I have also bought a Harmon Kardon Hs200 DVD player (with upscaling). We have bought a decent hdmi cable and have tried to connect the DVD player to the TV via HDMI, but everytime we do it tells us that there is no signal? Am I doing something wrong? When you plug the hdmi in, the tv recognises its there but we get no picture. There is sound coming out of DVD player. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: new dvd player

I presume your dvd player has a "set up " menu ?Go into it and see if you can set it to output HDMI .You should also be able to set it to 576p,1080i and possibly 1080p.It will work .You are just doing something not right:

Re: new dvd player

Is it true that if you have a hdtv you don't need an upscaling dvd player.
