Toshiba-SD270E - decent for a 42" LCD or rubbish?

I know this may seem silly to some BUT.... I could do with some help?

My mum has just bought a 42" LCD (the 42x3030D) set, and I wanted to get her a cheap DVD player to replace her old Toshiba player, and saw this -

Now she doesn't care about HD / HDMI and all that (I've given up explaining it to her!) but she just wants a DVD player to go with her new set that looks good for standard DVD's.

Is this a decent option? I know it doesn't upscale or have HDMI, but it has component connections. Or should I buy her an upscaling DVD player to get the best out of this set without going all out HD??

And if so, whats the best cheap option upscaler?

They seemed to like it

Probably get a better performance from Samsung 870 upscaler but costs about £50
