Re: Which DVD Player USB

Why are you looking at the 5982? Are you based in the USA, if not the UK version is the 5980.

You cannot run a cable from your PC to the DVD player if thats what you are asking. You need an external USB drive or a USB pendrive. Only avi/divx/xvid files work via USB aswell not mpeg/dvd files.

Re: Which DVD Player USB

I have been looking into this also as I have a Helios X3000 and to be honest it is not that great!

I never use the streaming function on it, so am looking for a DVD player that is:

Multi-region
Upscales DVD to 1080p
Plays "all" files from USB sources (pen drives, ext. HDD)
Upscales files from USB to 1080p

Is there such a device? The X3000 does all of this, but the interface is slow and clunky and remote control is useless!

Ideally a Sony (as all my other kit is Sony too)

So I guess we are in the same boat! . I prefer Sony too and most of my tech stuff are Sony.

Re: Which DVD Player USB

I think we are out of luck with a Sony solution as their upscaling DVD players don't handle media from USB (that I have seen).

There are some solutions from other big names, but most of the devices with the broadest compatibility for media files seem to be the smaller players, like Helios, Kiss (from Scan) etc.

It is probably a matter of time ...

Re: Which DVD Player USB

Cheers

I have seen similar things elsewhere, but that is fairly comprehensive. I am tempted to split things out into a separate DVD player and a media centre like this (or one of the many alternates).

Any idea where this is available from in the UK?
