Samsung HD1080P7 Settings

Just a quicky, received my DVD player this morning ... and hooked up to my Non-HD TV, Toshiba 42W36P Rear Pro using Components. Set it to P-Scan instead of I-Scan... however, the colour seems slightly more mutted in this setting?

After being slightly disappointed with the picture... I've started to faff around... however, "Brightness", "Colour" and "Saturation" are set at factory setting 3. I've altered Colour to 4 and the picture is better with more standard colour... just wondering what other people set theirs to?

Has anyone else noticed a slight grainy view though? Put Gladiator on and the sky is slightly grainy, just watching War Of The Worlds... and that looks ever so slightly grainy as well?

Detail is nice and high... but was expecting a slightly clearer picture...

Also, I can't get this to be multi region... I've done the following and neither works... I never get a "2" appearing..

Just tried this on my region 2 1080P7 - and it works.

This works with the Samsung remote supplied with the DVD player.

Turn on the Player with no disc on the tray. The tv screen and the dvd lcd will display "No Disk"

2. Press the "Repeat" key on the Samsung remote control

3. Press the keys: "5 7 5 3 8" on the remote. Number 2 appears on the screen for a short time.

4. Press "9". Number 9 is displayed on the screen.

5. Press the "Open/close" button in the remote. The tray will open. Leave it open for a few seconds.

6. Just press the "On/off" button in the remote.

Sorry daz_man83,

tried enabling private messaging in my options but for some reason it is not staying saved.

ANyway here is the hack I used which is the same as the previous but without the need for opening the tray or turning off the player:

1. With the dvd tray empty no disc in the player press the repeat key on the remote.
2. Press keys 5-7-5-3-8 in this order.
3. 2 will appear on screen now press no.9 on the remote for multi region.
4. Finally press repeat button again to store setting.
5. All done you can now play any region disc including rce encrypted discs also.

Re: Samsung HD1080P7 Settings

Well, after 3-4 films, and sitting in the dark tonight wastching a coupel fo testing films..., I've come to the conclusion it's a quality set. I've got rid of the grittyness in the picture to reveal a pin sharp picture... with settings of brightness = 2, contrast = 3 and colour saturation = 4... I feel this gives the nicest picture... and all of a sudden it's region free so result.

Can someone just answer me this though, why does Prog Scan lose some fo the colour compared to I Scan? I use Prog Scan, and turn the colour to 4 on the deck and this gives perfect results... but isn't it odd?

Cheers
Pug

Re: Samsung HD1080P7 Settings

Try the code for your region that is mentioned here. I used the R4 code (since i live in Australia) and it worked for me even though the code was meant for a different Samsung model.
