Replacing an old player with analogue 5.1 surround sound output

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i need to replace an old dvd player that has analogue 5.1 surround sound output (6x RCA ) and dont want to replace my (old) speakers/sub. can you still buy dvd players with 5.1 ouput i.e with the 6 RCA on the back of the machine? Thanks for your help.

Re: Replacing an old player with analogue 5.1 surround sound output

Of course you can...any player with an onboard DD decoder will have this connection - there are many to choose from in various price ranges.
A digital (coaxial or optical) connection is the preferred option for watching movies though - lets your amp or receiver do the decoding.

Smile Re: Replacing an old player with analogue 5.1 surround sound output

Thanks for that. Perhaps i'm missing something here but all the dvd players I have looked at today with built in 5.1 decoders seem to have digital/coaxial connection only which I think is no good to me!

I simply want to be able to plug in the six RCA connections that I have at the moment plugged into my old busted player into the back of the new one and not have to buy a new subwoofer and five speakers. If you can point me in the direction of any suitable players to achieve this I will be most grateful. Thanks a lot.
