Hi, i have a Sony DVP-NS76H upscaling player

I was just wondering, because it is divx certified, and has a HDMI output, does that mean I should be able to put 720p divx files onto a dvd, and it should play them at 720p, or will it downscale it to SD?

Don't think it can play a 720p divx file, as that has res of 1280x720. It just won't play it at all - you'll hear only audio.

I think it plays max 720x480 which is 480p divx files (and it will upscale those).
