Shame no HDCD or SACD playback for true universal device.

I was tempted to go direct but at $379 - $50 (using the 'WinterBlues' discount code) = $329 + postage = e.g. $345 (= £176)
However after reading their FAQ - I understood that import tax/duty would be charged upon arrival ()? So by my calculation adding 17.5% VAT & 5% duty (if correct) it's not so attractive - Or did I do my calculations wrong ?
Anyway - in the end I went with Superfi.co.uk (local) at £209 (they are knocking £20 off their RRP online, plus as it's local I felt it's better placed to deal with faults/warrenty etc.

I am between this and the Oppo 981 but like the fact that the Helios has streaming aswell. Do you rate it well as a dvd player.

This machine sounds too good to be true. I was about to splash for a denon 1930, but i swaying towards this machine just for the fact i can get watch stuff from my pc on it. Has anyone taken delievery of this yet and had a play around. I would like to know how the build quality is. also do dvd's look and sound great with this machine. I would also like to know how easy it is to set it up to send movies form the pc to it and does it work good? any info on this would be much appreciated. shame it does not come in silver though. other than that this seems like a dream come true. cheers

Sorry Owen 824 - The £209 was with the £20 off as it's usually £229 - I did eventually hear from Helios and it seems if you do order from the US it's shipped for a storage hub here in the UK (so maybe duty is saved - but I haven't asked as I've already parted with my cash?)
Anyway costs aside - for the record, I luv my Helios X3000; it's connected to a Pioneer plasma and looks great.
The supplied Helios Media Server software loads onto any PC easily, and although running HD content over wireless is not good, Vobs are totally fine.
Also I'm currently working on turning an old PC into a NAS (FreeNas) and load it up with movies - I'm almost there and it test so far so good (a whole media library via the X3000 at my finger tips :-)

I didnt even know such device existed, but bl**dy hell do I want one! Just wish I had a spare £209. Guess it'll have to go on the shopping list under my new 5.1 speaker set up that is the next purchase!
Looks a very impressive unit, and love the streaming capability! <struggles to keep the credit card in the wallet>
