what dvd and AV receiver for my Philips 32pf7520d

I have absolutely no idea about TV's DVD players or surround sound. I am being told all over the place that I should get a new surround system to go with my Philips 32PF7520D. So you help needed all my friends are giving me advice on what to buy and what is best. I have no idea what they are talking about.

So you help is appreciated. First things first the TV only has 1 DVI in, DVI audio in, 2 scart and on the side the usual audio l&r, Video in and S-video. I have been told to get the pioneer DVR-545HX-s with the VSX2016S receiver, as I have been told it is better to get them separate. But now I am told to wait and get the new Panasonic SA-XR700 receiver and the DMP-BD10blu ray disk player..

By reading some of the threads about the Philips tv I think I need to get a new one already as it is not truly HD ready.
