What does SD look like on a HD screen through Scart?

Yeah... I'm waiting for my Sony 2010 50in TV to arrive. I have a standard DVD player..it only has scart out. So what will that look like?

I was thinking of buying the Sony NS76 HDMI player.

Or waiting for a HD-DVD player.

But if I wait for the HD-DVD player I want a decent picture, at least acceptable. So is Scart terrible?

Re: What does SD look like on a HD screen through Scart?

I am currently running an ancient Wharfedale DVD player via Scart after my Marantz gave up the ghost. The picture is certainly worse than via component but it's by no means unwatchable. Just make sure you a reasonable quality lead and that the DVD player is outputting RGB.

If it's RGB SCART then it should look pretty good.

Oh Ok so far I am happy then with SD through scart until I get HD-DVD.

Thanks!
