need a player to improve back-ed up and normal dvd's

hi, im buying the q321 and probably a 50" and the a home cinema at some point int eh future, but know i really need a dvd quality enchamcer machine, alot of my dvd's i have backed up ands tored the originals in the attic cos of small children running around, what piece of equiopment do i need, im happ to spend the money, ill need something that scales everything but also improves the quality of dvd's, ive heard alot of the hd-dvd players have this so i might aswell buy one of them but then thats a whole other list of questions, i was wondering, at this point in time is there any point spending an arm adn a leg on a dvd player that only plays standerd dvd's even though it will be very advanced and upconvert then, basically all im after is the player that can make my dvd's look the best, im really not thinking about the prce but i not bill gates
thanks

Get the originals down from the loft and put in a cupboard away from the kids. You will never improve a back up as it compressed to fit the disk so you lose the quality.

your best bet and also probably the cheapest is a home theatre computer. This will upscale anything to whatever you want and using a program like ffdshow will sharpen and enhance your dvd images. Also pretty future proof as you can replace the dvd player at a later date with a blue-ray or hd-dvd player whichever wins the format war.

to see what ffdshow can do go here: http://www.htpcnews.com/index.php?op...=132&Itemid=48

lots of home theatre computer info here: http://www.htpcnews.com/index.php?op...=132&Itemid=48

you may even be able to use your current pc if it s powerfull enough, and ffdshow is actually free!

Sorry, just noticed theres a home theatre computer section on this forum but it s listed as entertainment computers, I had assumed without looking too closely that was for gaming
