Nintaus N9769 first impressions

Just received my Nintaus N9769.

I think I'm OK regarding customs duty & VAT, as the documentation enclosed said "a sample of no commercial content"

1st impressions:

Nice enough looking player, reasonable build quality. Rear panel-socket heaven!

Remote control-typical of Chinese players. Nothing to write home about but fully functional. Of little consequence to me as I use a Pronto.

Features a 3 stage zoom, but playback is stuttery while zoomed. Selectable output Pal/NTSC.

Decent control system, easy to navigate.

On screen menus simple/plain, but I must say at this stage (only had it a few hours) I quite like it.

I'm unable to offer much information on picture quality at this stage as I'm still awaiting my projector, which will hopefully be here tomorrow.

Picture on my 15.1 Flat panel display (using the VGA out) looks good, but, as you can appreciate, is useless for critical appraisal.

The drive is very quite in operation & seems swift enough.

I've uploaded a few pictures of the player/remote & some menu shots. Apologies in advance for the poor quality pictures - didn't take too much time checking camera settings etc...

The pictures are here

As I said previously, when I receive the AE-100 I'll be better able to give an opinion regarding interlaced/progressive, VGA/component etc.

Regards

how long did you have to wait between ordering and getting it and what was the total cost. I may get one as it looks as though my lescon is going back

did you select the option to mark down the value to avoid customs.

Hi Chic,

I got mine through contacts in HK.

Got away with customs - documentation said " a sample of no commercial value".

Total cost, inc. bank charges €320, approx £205 sterling.

It took about 10 days to arrive after I transferred payment, including the 5 days spent sitting in customs

I'm still awaiting my AE-100, which was supposedly dispatched from Germany on Tuesday

I'll post regarding performance, if it EVER arrives

Nice to see it's got a 15pin D-sub output, very usfull for running on a PC monitor or an old projector with no component inputs.
