Cambridge Audio DVD55 and surround sound connections

Hi everyone
I wonder if you could offer me any advice.
I have a DVD55 conected up to my samsung lcd via componant connection and love it.
I want the sound to be better, I see the dvd player has the DTS logo on the front and speaker outputs to the rear. Does this mean I can just plug in speakers for surround sound? If not what do I need. I have a buget of arround £100 ,cant realy stretch any further. I realy want to have DTS sound.
Sorry for the stupid question but I realy dont know.

You can't attache the speakers direct. You need to connect to an av amp or an active speakers pack
