denon 2900 problem!

I own a denon 2900 dvd player. when I play dvd movies on it it seem to play them in graphics mode or video mode and very rarely film mode, why is this? Has the sil504 progressive chip got some kind of bug?

Any help would be appreciated.

It depends on the disc you are playing, R1 NTSC will most likely run in Film mode, whilst R2 PAL will show Graphics, it's down to the differents specs of the sourse material and the framerate/pulldown being used. I'm not sure about Video though, as I think that might work for both, but its been a while since I read up on it.

Try doing a search, as there were a few similar queries raised when the 2900 was released.
