Flickering of screen on Region 1 TV show DVDs

Hi

I have a Samsung HD850 connected via HDMI. While most of my DVDs work perfectly, I have faced a problem when using certain region 1 TV shows such as Friends - in short, the screen flickers frequently.

I had the same problem when I tested this on another DVD player (a pioneer but connected via a SCART lead).

Does anyone have any advice on how I can rectify the problem? Does this have anything to do with the NTSC/PAL setting on the DVD player?

Have you tried changing the signal output on the 850 from Pal to NTSC? I have the 950 & it doesn't switch automatically so when I go from watching a R1 to a R2 dvd I have to change the output manually.
