Smile Looking for advice on a new DVD player

Hi folks first time i have posted anything online but have been looking plenty.I am wanting a new HI DEF DVD player as you can see i havent got a player of much quality, been to Richer sounds in Belfast and had a look. Anyone know of a good player round the £300 mark that goes well with my TV and if you's have any links to sites cheers folks.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

There are no HiDef DVD players available yet* , you may be confusing them with upscaling DVD players.

I suggest you have a read around this forum on upscaling players because they are sometimes not all they are cracked up to be.

Is your display a normal TV, if so what connections does it have. What player have you got at the moment?

*in terms of true Blu-ray and HD-DVD - please can someone resist the temptation to go off an a WMV-HD or whatever tangent.

I have a Phillips 37" ambilight PF9986 and a DVP520 cheap and nasty phillips (but does the job £30) connected with s-video lead.

Have you checked out this thread.

If you really want a DVD player with HDMI output, then how's about the Denon 1920.

I'd recommend the Denon.

Santa bought me one for Xmas, & I am just gobsmacked watching upscaled DVDs like Star Wars Ep III in 720p & 1080i.
