Unhappy Information on DVD Recorders & Harddrive

Does any one recomend a good DvD recorderwith built in Hardrive that will be able to connect to video only to convert video to disc as its a minefield out there as I have been looking in local stores and get bogged down with too much info from salesmen & women .I have been looking at the Sony DVD recorder with hardrive but do not know if this one is any good any information would be obliged
