PANASONIC Q link question

am just about to connect a panasonic lcd tev to a panasonic dvd player

now my reading of the instructions seems to indicate that you must use a scart lead to maintain this function

this btw is my parents 'system' and i thought that the q link would make operation of the system easier as the two pieces of equipment can 'talk' to each other

i would prefer to use component connection for improved pq

any suggestions and does q link really offer any benefits???

thanks in anticipation
