Denon 3910 - Playback of VR Recordings?

As per title - should the 3910 playback VR recordings on DVD-RW discs? The manual makes no mention of 'VR' compatibility and, when I insert a DVD-RW (finalised or otherwise) into the machine it just says 'DVD-VR' and ejects.

This in itself is fine - VR mode is not widely compatible - but loads of reviews I've seen on the 1910/2910/3910 say they are -VR compatible (on DVD-RW). Just wondered if it was a firmware issue or whether they are just incompatible?

I've checked it on a DVD-R and it's fine on my 3910. Not sure I've got a -RW kicking about to test it, but if I have and can find it, I'll run a test tonight.
