Which DVD player with HDMI upscales and NO MACROBLOCKING

Hi all,

Is there a DVD player around with the above that doesnt have macroblocking issues. I read Samsungs and Denon are affected. not sure about others.

Thanks.

Any upscaling DVD player with Faroudja processing appears to be affected at the moment, but to lesser or greater degrees - this appears to mean that most of the current mainstream players will be affected, as most appear to use Faroudja.
The Samsung HD745 may be an exception, but whether it's performance is otherwise up to scratch, I couldn't say!
Other than that, you may have to look at the generic Chinese players - but ditto the comment re: HD745 about these, or wait for the next generation of mainstream models later this year!

Of the Faroudja equipped players, some say this macroblocking is not present, some say it's there but hardly noticable (you have to really look for it) while others say it's quite distracting - pick the bones out of that!!!!!

The humble Momitsu V880 doesn't have macroblocking .. nor as Paul points out does the 868. The V880 is DVI not HDMI but that's immaterial.

Thank you all. I take it the message is: there is no such a player at the £200-300 price mark

No blocking on HD745/945 unlike s97,dvd75, denon 1910 etc. Macrobocking is linked to faroudja based scalers. Samsung use Zoran.
