Question Denon 2910 audio only!

Novice alert Need some interconnect guidance guys!

Purchased both Denon avr 2105 & dvd 2910. Connecting dvd to tv (Sagem HD-D45) using dvi-i and digital coaxial then tv to amp using digital coaxial to prevent lip sync probs.

Q. Is it possible to also connect dvd via digital Toslink direct to avr to allow CD audio playback with tv in "off mode" ? or is this just NOT DONE!
This means both digital connectors will be in use, but not simultaneously. I have noticed that in the manual diagrams it says you can use either "or" not both.

Why are manuals so complicated

cheers in advance for any advice.

I would have though you only have to use the coax cable. Switch the Amp to DVD and leave the TV switched off. I used to use my DVD player like this all the time on my Denon 1601.

Richie.

cheers Richie, I think I'll try this before I buy a Toslink interconnect.

I just presumed if the TV was off then the signal would not pass through to the AMP via the TV.

Hope you're right save me at least £40...cheers

Decided to just go QED Toslink and assign it as CD. to listen to music with TV off. No sound via coax when tv off as the tv passes through the DVD via it's SPDIF in/out.

Cheers Richie, thanks for the help.

USing analogue interconnects would perhaps have produced a better result. The DAC in the player for CD will probably be superior to the one in your receiver, and it leaves the optical input free for playstation or sky digital.

What you have tried will work fine, but above may eke a bit more perfomance for you.
