Question sony 725 macrovision

Can anyone explain why macrovision seems to be disabled on R2 discs and not R1 discs ???
tried auto and manual region selection but no joy..
player is sony 725 from richer sounds. Donkey's lost my sammy 709 when it went in for repair.
Also does the 725 play audio cd-r's ????

Are you trying to record the dvd to VHS, if so it sounds like you don't have a vcr capable of recording a pure NTSC signal (the sony players only output pure NTSC and pure PAL, they don't do standards conversion)

Red face

thanks for the reply, I've been looking in some mags today and I understand what you mean. my old sammy 709 had a quasi pal setting, so I guess that explains why i could do R1's on my video, with that player.
I've got a Sony video player that has settings for playing on pal or nstc tv's and also a switch for colour system ( auto, pal, nstc 4.43 )so I wasnt sure if it was a macro vision or video output problem.
