CA DVD79 - anyone know anything?

Just seen this as coming into stock tomorrow at RS. I was considering a 540D, which has dropped to £199, but the DVD79 is the same price. Or should I forget it and go with the Pio 575A.

Thanks

Ian

It has a DVI output but is Interlaced only from Component.

Thanks, DVI not needed for my plasma, so I guess the choice is between the Azur and the 575a then.

575??

So, what is the Pio 575 anyway?

Is the same as the 563a or 578a in North America? I looked at pics of the 575 selling on UK websites and it looks the same as a 563 or 578.

I own a 563a, it was a great little piece. Very inexpensive universal dvd player. But I don't see how anyone in their right mind can compare the sound quality between either the 563a or 578a to the CA 540d. They're not in the same league. Well, maybe the same league but the Pio isn't going to make the all star game.

I just brought home my 540d last night. My 563 broke days after 1 year, it's become unreliable. What a difference in sound. The PQ doesn't present an appreciable difference so far in my testing, but it's still quite good on both machines.
