How do disable HDCP on a HD935

Hi there,

Does anyone know how to disable the HDCP on a Samsung HD935. Apparently it can be done but I know how.

Also is the HD945 better than the HD 935. The specs on www.bedirect.co.uk who seem to be the only retailers of this machine are very poor. My need is for good DVD playback through a DVI-d connection to a Hitachi TX100 projector if this helps.

720 x 576 @ 50H seems to be the only setting for which I can get a image (thats the red light on the DVI VIDEO button). The other two options are images full of snow noise. Is this normal?

1. disable hdcp. open tray and press the front-panel dvi button.

1/ Press REPEAT on the remote
2/ Press the following numbers: 57538
3/ Press: 9

I can confirm that the handset hack works for the HD945 too.
It disabled HDCP, and also allows multiregion playback:

- Turn on player with no disc in.
- press repeat
- press 57538 - you should see the region displayed
- press 9 ( for multiregion? )

Then press enter or repeat to clear the 9 off the screen.

I have tested a range of region 1, 2 and 3 DVDs.
However, I did have problem with a region 1 version of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Could this be an RCE title that is causing problems? Can anyone else play this film having done the above? Is there another handset hack that might allow this film to be played back?

When I did the remote hack on my hd945 I pressed the open/close button after pressing 9, then powered the machine off with the disc tray still open. Powered back on and is now multi region. I haven't got the region 1 Phantom Menace disc but the R1 release of Spiderman is an RCE disc that would cause problems on my old Sony but runs fine on the Samsung.

Thanks mrchaz. For my HD945 too once I added the eject, standby to the end of my button sequence, it permenantly seems to have turned off HDCP, given multiregion playback, and also now my phantom menace disc will play.

Full button sequence is as follows:

- Turn on player with no disc in.
- press repeat
- press 57538 - you should see the region displayed
- press 9
- press eject
- press on/off ( standby ) button.

Sorry if I'm a bit slow here but....

Does HDCP automatically turn off when you set the region to '9'?
Can I (for example) turn of HDCP while keeping a region setting of '2'?

Is this the case:

If Region code set to 'Multiregion' then turn off HDCP.
If Region code set to 'Any other region 1-8?' then turn on HDCP.

..might sound like a naff point but I have one of these arriving (somewhere between now and the next model ) and I am interested.

Not sure if I understand the HDCP function correctly, but if the 945 is made multi-region and thus HDCP turned off, does this mean if your TV is HDCP compliant, the DVD movie won't show on the LCD TV? I have a Sharp LC-32GA3E and thinking about the Sansung 945.
