Sony 730 and Sanyo Z2 problem with PAL.

Hi all, I have been a long time reader of these forums and this is my first post so please be gentle. I hope this post is in the right place for a start.

I have a Sanyo Z2 projector and recently purchased a Sony 730 DVD player. My previous player was a Philips Q50 from my AE-100 days which I found to be a very good player for the time, but has unfortunately recently played its last DVD before dying on me. Hence the interim purchase of the Sony 730. Now to the question, has anyone else who uses the Z2 with the 730 noticed that on PAL progressive material there is a light grey bar at the top of the screen about 1cm in depth, like the player is not quite filling the LCD panels viewable area. I know that the Philips didn’t do this so can anyone shed some light on to what’s causing this anomaly. It’s not really a big problem but it would be nice to know what is causing it.

Thanks for your time.

I did a quick test with my 730 on my Brothers Z2 earlier this year and I cannot remember any grey bar on the screen.

On my AE100 the image can be moved vertiaclly and horizontally in the posititon section of the menu, have you tried this on the Z2 to remove the bar?

I have seen this on loads of DVD player/PJ combinations.

The only thing that removed it for me was switching to a progressive DVD player, which ironically is the Sony 730.
I am quite sure it is something to do with the interlaced pciture and its line count.

However, if you are experiencing the line which i think is situated just below the 2:35:1 black top bar from your description, with a progressive machine then I am not sure how you would remove it.

Can anyone else help?
