MP3 on DVD-R

Am currently the proud owner of a Pioneer 565. I know it can play MP3's, presumably recorded on a CD-R. Does anyone know if it was also play MP3s's if I was to record them on a DVD-R? Will the laser be able to cope?

Am trying to create a definitive musical jukebox disc of a series of albums

As always, thanks!

Do you burn them in separate folders or can you just bung a whole lot of them on the root folder ?

Mine are in folders, they are a backup for my Nomad Jukebox. I have not tried them on the root folder.
