Cambridge Audio Azur 540D

I have been looking at Mid Range players as a replacement for my 5 year old Panasonic player.

This is very high on my two player short list!

Are there many members out there that have this and/or tried it out?

I am particulary interested in the following features:
RGB output
CD playback
Layer changes.

All comments greatfully received!!

I have a CA Azur 540D in the bedroom, before I purchased the Pioneer it was my main player - I have to say for the price point, its stunning. Prog scan picture performance is great as is DVD-A playback, the unit looks fantastic and the handset is a joy to use - highly recommended. RGB output is superb (IMHO) and CD playback is also good at this price point - layer change was as good as my Pioneer 868..........

I am using a 540D and give it a .

I am using it via component out on my new 32inch Sharp Aqous lcd screen and the results are very very impressive.

The layer change is a lot better than my older Pioneer 737, and cd playback really is good aswell.

For £230 is hard to leave on the shelf

I also have the 540D and think it is the best in its price range. I use RGB going into my Mitt 65 inch TV. DVD-A is also very very good......

Well I like mine (especially as I got it free for writing the admittedly quite rubbish manual ) although it is going to be banished to the bedroom as and when I shift up a gear regarding my AV setup. I like the build, the interlaced picture and the remote (in a lighted room) is better than most units at a grand. CD playback isn't bad although it isn't going to worry a 640C.

Where you have mentioned the layer change as being better than your previous Pioneer players does that mean there is no noticable layer change or is the change only minor?

Are there any other mid-range players?

This at £230? Yamaha DVS1500 at £320? Denon 2200 can be gotten for £380? HK22? Maybe a panasonic or two?

Are these the only players between £200 and £400? Which one's the best (value)? Anyone got one of these others?
