I thought I'd better jump in to defend the Sammy 935 ! I also have an AE500 and for the money the 935 is a steal. I've had no operational problems, the region free hack works and the picture quality is about 75% of a decent HTPC from the DVI output.
It's far from perfect, the remote sucks, the scaling chip adds some noise and the 935 definitely crushes blacks. That's the last thing you need with an AE500 ! But if I didn't have a HTPC to compare it with I'd be blissfully ignorant. Also at £142 delivered the 935 is less than half the price of just the video card in my HTPC.
