No scart socket on tv

I recently had a dvd player bought for me, unfortunately i have been unable to play it. My tv does not have a scart socket in the back and when i put a dvd on it flashes. I have connected my dvd player to my video player. Is there any way i can connect my tv and video to my dvd player or do i need to buy a new tv?

Does the TV have ANY AV inputs (any inputs at all, other than the aerial socket)?

If yes - use that/those.

If no then you need either a new TV (probably the case, if it hasn't any other inputs it is probably quite old)

or.......
