Tosh and DVD media

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I'm investing in a new PC with DVD writer (+/- R and +/- RW) and wonder if any Tosh 2109sd or 520e owners out there have been able to playback any of these formats. (I was under the impression that Tosh is supporting DVD-RAM?)

Also as Tosh cannot playback avi ie DivX can anyone recommend a good software converter to vcd?
