Need an upscaling DVD player.

I need an inexpensive upscaling DVD player for my SD discs as my Samsung 1500 is lacking in that department. Whats recommeded?

Re: Need an upscaling DVD player.

You might be wasting your money. Depends much on the TV you've got as some TV's will upscale far better than a cheap upscaling DVD player.

My TV is a Pioneer plasma. Never the less as I've already mentioned SD picture quality from the Samsung isn't good by any stretch.

So can you suggest a non upscaling player if my TV does a better job.

Just set a player to 576p for the TV to upscale but I agree, the quality of the Sammy 1500 is not that great.

If you take a trip to the blu ray forum, no. of recent threads on this issue, lots good blu ray players abit well, naff at dvd upscaling. If you feel your screens good enough let it take the strain, I've dedicated dvd upscaler, because I wanted better pq than tv , or my blu ray player could deliver for upscaling.
