Tosh SD900e can it play DVD-r disks

hi
can the SD900e play DVD-R disks?
also would you buy a SD900e or the new SD530
would use it on my Hitachi CP-S225w projector using component leads

SD900E will play DVD-R's.

Riteks, Princo's and Verbs have all played fine in mine.

If your using it as a source for a PJ you may want to go the PAL progressive scan route as the 900 can only output NTSC in progressive mode.

However for the money nowadays you are getting one of the finest DVD players ever built at a very good price. Although limited to only interlaced PAL output, it is of such high quality that it may just suffice for your needs. It does have a Pseudo PAL Progressive mode but that is not worth getting into at all.

i have an option of geting a second hand 900e or a new 530e and as my projector can play PAL prog and NTSC prog but most of my films are region 2 and your coment about Pseudo PAL Progressive mode being a bit poo. I should get a 530e would you agree
(but I do like the look,build quality and reputation of the 900e)
