i have already got a hk dvd25 running through my plasma but want another dvd player to go through my ptae 200.My quandry is do i buy a denon 2200 or spend extra on the 2900?is the 2900 sonically better in straight stereo?Or buy a hk dvd30 to complement the dvd25 and then spend the cash saved on a dedicated cd player like a nad cd521bbe?
DVD 30 should be great especially with DVD-A would be interested in your comparison of CD replay on DVD25 30 and what ever dedicated CD players you have run through your system.
Re: denon 2200 or 2900 or hk dvd30 and nad cd521bbe?

The NAD C521BEE would be quite significantly outperformed for straight CD playback by the Denon 2900, and probably by the 2200.
Don't mean to muddy the water, but I've got a 2900 and use it for multi-channel material. For stereo I use an Arcam 92T (picked up for a very reasonable price on e-bay).
One thing to bear in mind with the 2900 is that unlike the 2800II, it doesn't have the facility to decode HDCD encoded discs.
Well ieventually went for an Hk dvd30 that i bought off of a guy in the classified section and i have to say i am very impressed with the straight stereo performance through the phono outputs,i have'nt had the chance to test the player to it's full capabilities yet as i am moving house in two weeks and it's all boxed up
