Need advice on DVD-Recorder for Sky+

I need a bit of advice on choosing a DVD/HDD recorder to use along side my Sky+HD box. For the last couple of years i've been using BT Vision and now Sky, so i've lost touch a bit on my options.

My main requirement is the ability to use the copy function on the Sky box to transfer too Hdd then to disc. Was going to buy just a DVD recorder but from what i've read i should opt for a Hdd as well.

My budget isnt very high, approx £120 max, so far have been looking at used/refurbs on ebay. Mainly models by Phillips, Sony, Samsung and Toshiba.

Do i need to buy one with HDMI upscaling? at the moment i use my PS3 for that option on normal dvd's, would dvds from a recorder play on the PS3?

Models i've been looking at include Toshiba RD88DT, Phillips dvdr3590h and a Sony HXD560.

Re: Need advice on DVD-Recorder for Sky+

I managed to get my mother a Sony RDRHXD790 of ebay. It was a shop return but immaculate and has a full 12 months guarantee it cost about £100 all in as paypal had a discount promotion at the time of about 10% off plus used quiddco to get a bit more off. I would say that was your best option if you could get one around that price upto your budget of £120. I wouldn't recommend the Toshiba or Philips as there are various issues with them that make them easily inferior to the sony.

You won't regret it. A lovely bit of kit for the money.
