Problem with Panasonic DVD-R

I got a couple of Panasonic DMR-E75V DVD Recorders which I use at work for coping VHS to DVD but one of them has developed an annoying problem.

Everytime I turn it on it keeps self checking, when it stops self checking I cannot use the DVD part at all, there is a disk stuck in there too, the VHS player works fine tho. It's just doesn't seem to respond to anything I do, tried switching it on and off many times too.

I had a look on the net to see if anyone else has had this problem and it seems to be a frequent problem but I have not been able to find a solution t fix it.

Can anyone help me??

Welcome to the forum.

The important priority is to get this disc removed [ and dispose of it- If you put it back in the machine you will have this problem again ]

It's generally important when dealing with these problems to avoid being tempted to press eject or other buttons.

Get the unit to standby status. It sounds as though you are able to do that normally.

Once in standby: Press and hold the Stop and Channel Up buttons on the front panel for about 5 seconds. This will force an eject.

Obviously you need to be able to put the unit into standby to do this.
Try to achieve standby in the normal way, but if you cannot, , force it into standby by pressing the On/Off (Standby) button on the front panel for about 10 seconds, then press and hold the Stop and Channel Up buttons for about 5 seconds to force eject.

Re: Problem with Panasonic DVD-R

How would you feel about opening the machine up ... and then the disc unit , to extract the disc directly ?

It may be the only option, other than giving it to a service department.

It's possible that this unit has a different button combination for 'force eject' than the one mentioned above.
Perhaps Panasonic customer services in your area would tell you what it is.
