Unhappy Any DSi games yet?

So, after getting all exicted about the new DSi, does anyone know when there will actually be some games available that use the new DSi features?

Ian.

I think it will be quite a while before games are DSi only.

Re: Any DSi games yet?

Just another reason why the DSi is, at the moment, a big waste of money :|

I cant help myself, I dont want to be negative but the DSi is Nintendo doing its strange thing of absuing its fans again.

When do you ever, ever release a piece of hardware - especially a gaming device - with NO games at all for it and none apperently in the pipeline ?
I mean ??!?!?!?!?!?!?! Has the world gone mad, think of the children etc etc.

Insane to the point that it makes me think ninty has a a thing for taunting us.

There are games in the pipeline.

The DSi wasn't released to show new games to the world, it was to compete with the PSP. Hence the reason they've added the SD card slot and stuff.

I agree though they should have a game out already that utilises the features of the DSi, but there isn't, so if you don't like that you don't have to buy the console until such games are released.

Re: Any DSi games yet?

The wario game on the DSi shop uses the camera in the gameplay. Not exactly a AAA title granted, but something. The DSi seems to be more of an evolution of the DS/DSlite, much like the PSP slim/3000 rather than a new console per se. They`d have been better marketing it as such and discontinuing the DS lite IMO.

I think it would be a bit stupid if Nintendo brought out sole DSi games. Not everyone has upgraded to the DSi (to be honest, I don't intend to).

Re: Any DSi games yet?

Thats a chicken and egg argument. There has to be some games out for it or theres no point in buying it in the first place - as you say yourself.

Imagine there was a killer title out that was DSi only - thats what a lot of people are waiting for. I find it strange that there isnt one title out at launch - I worry thats, as mentioned before, this might have been a sales gimmick to counter the new PSP. Eitherway its not a big deal as the Iphone seems to be makes some serious advances into the mobile gaming market, things might be shaken up a bit in the next year anyway.

Nintendo have already confirmed that they will be releasing some DSi games that will be incompatible with the DS Lite. I think with the amount of DS/ DS Lites sold though these will likely be in the minority with most games being compatible with both.

Thats what I was getting at in a crap way!! Would be shooting themselves in the foot producing all sole DSi games when there's so many DS/DSlites out there. (obviously the time will come for sole DSi games but its a long way off yet)

Re: Any DSi games yet?

They expect everyone to upgrade to the DSi. I won't be.

You just know there will be a 'DSi Lite' out in a year or so.

Re: Any DSi games yet?

I'll throw my penny's worth of thoughts into the ring and then leave quietly.

After the original GB (I still have mine) came the GBC and the *new* improved games that took advantage of the colour features, but the GBC was still compatible with GB games.

Then, after a couple of redesigns, came the GBA with *new* improved games that took advantage of the new features, but the GBA was still compatible with GB and GBC games.

Then, after a couple of redesigns, came the DS with *new* improved games that took advantage of the new features, but the DS was still compatible with GBA games but not GB and GBC games.

Then, after a redesign, comes the DSi with *new* improved games that take advantage of the new features, but the DSi is still compatible with DS games but not GB, GBC, or GBA games.

It's a process that has been happening since the GB was first remodelled. Once Nintendo has sold enough units there may well be *must have* DSi only games to encourage people to ditch their DS and DSLites in favour of the new handheld. There is also the possibility that the DSi Shop Channel will have some decent releases (rather than stripped out versions of previous retail releases).

I am surprised, as are others, that there is not a single DSi only retail title released yet.
