Re: Connect DS to Sky Wireless Broadband ?

I'm pretty sure the DS only supports WEP security, not WPA etc.

Yes, you just need to change the security settings on your router to WEP.

You need to access your router through your browser (Explorer etc), then in wireless settings change from WPA to WEP and create a new encryption password. You should have got instructions with your router.

You will also need to change everything else on your wireless network to WEP.

Hope that helps.

Re: Connect DS to Sky Wireless Broadband ?

Log on to your router:

in the internet bar type

192.168.0.1

then a username and pass come up they are by default:

user: admin
pass: sky

click the setup tab top left and then there's a part that says security options - click WEP and voila

Re: Connect DS to Sky Wireless Broadband ?

The problem is though, WEP is considered a lot less secure than WPA, so to play on your DS online you have to compromise your network.

Re: Connect DS to internet with a DSTT Card to play online

Right! What you have to do is take the card out and blow the contacts. Then insert the card into the bin and order an R4 card online. This will solve all your issues!

Re: Connect DS to internet with a DSTT Card to play online

Ignore the above member's post. You not being able to connect to the internet is very likely to have nothing to do with the card itself. Also there are numerous reasons (which you can research yourself if you wish) for the DSTT being BETTER than the R4 as well as being CHEAPER.

With your game loaded, check through the "nintendo wfc settings" to see whether you can get a signal, if not then you won't be able to play online with any game, be it from the DSTT or a retail card. There could be numerous reasons for this being the case, including your wifi source not functioning properly or you not linking your ds to the signal correctly (in which case you'll need to research how to do so).

The exact cause of these problems is for you to figure out for yourself really. For example, are you able to get a signal from another device such as a laptop or a phone? Have you tried going online with a (real) retail game card? As mentioned, it could be that your wifi source is faulty or it could be a fault in your ds itself. The game you downloaded could also be faulty (A.K.A "a bad dump") - in which case you should obtain another copy from a different source, It is also possible that your sd card has corrupted in some way, something that a format can fix if the cause of this problem.

Re: Connect DS to Sky Wireless Broadband ?

Once you change to WEP encryption and get your key try this:

Go to 'Manual setup'.

Enter the SSID - name of your network (as it would be displayed on the access point list).

Enter the WEP key.

Enable Auto-obtain IP address.

Enable Auto-obtain DNS.

That should do it I think.

Failing that try entering the MAC address of the DS into your router.
Failing that you can also try updating the routers driver.

Beany's solution should work then. When you have generated your wep key enter it in your DS and it should connect fine.

Let us know how you get on!

Re: Connect DS to internet to play online

As Dice quite rightly said, this is most probably nothing to do with your flashcard and is basically a DS+Wi-Fi issue.
Thread title amended and moved to the online gaming DS subsection .
