Best game for my children

I have two little ones that I would like to get a DS for Xmas.

One is 7 the other 5. Can you suggest a game that would be a good game for those ages?

They are both girls btw.

Thank you.

Re: Best game for my children

Well if you buy this month's Official Nintendo Magazine there is a great list of the highest rated DS games in the back with a short paragraph telling you about it (no I don't work for them btw lol). There are lots of games that would be suitable for your girls, I'm thinking maybe Nintendogs, Animal Crossing Wild World or maybe Mario Kart DS (or pretty much anything with Mario in). There are loads of Pokemon titles available too if they're into that, not to mention the endless girl-orientated games such as Hanna Montanna etc.

Re: Best game for my children

I agree with the above to some extent. I have two girls aged 7 and 14 and they loved Nintendogs to start with but got bored of it pretty quickly.

They have a couple of Mario games and they seem to have played and played these so I would suggest as previously mentioned anything Mario based even the Gameboy Advanced Mario games which you can pick up really cheaply in Blockbuster or Gamestation etc. Mario Kart is brilliant and they race against one of their friends who has a DS - wirelessly - it is really good.

The other Mario ones I have seen are Princess Peach, New Super Marion Brothers, Mario and Luigi and Yoshi's Island - again very good and they have both played these lots. We don't have all these games but they tend to swap carts with their school friends.

There are of course lots of educational games but again their interest soon wains in them.

Hope this is of some help

Kind Regards

There's definitely appropriate games for younger girls for PC. I'd highly recommend Reader Rabbit and Clue Finders.

You can find them both and they are very well priced here:
Educational Software - The Prime Source

Hope that helps!

You're trading both your 5 and 7 year old for a DS game - I would've held out for a Wii and PS3 as well at least .

Seriously though, as this is a Q about games, I'll move to the games section where it might get more exposure.
My nieces at around that age like Mario Party DS, Animal Xing and multiplayer MarioKart DS.

There was a spelling one they had as well, but they got bored pretty quickly with it...

This question is over a year old so I'm guessing it's been resolved now but I would like to mention Big Bang Mini as a great game for all ages. You have to shoot various objects in the sky using fireworks and at the end of each level you trace the outline of some stars in a constellation to reveal a picture which you collect to show which levels you've completed. I know from the sound of it you may be a little concerned but it's not a violent game at all despite being a shooter. It's a very clever use of the stylus/touch screen and great fun and a hugely overlooked title imo.
